Anne-Birgitte Mullins
My name is Anne-Birgitte Mullins. I was born and grew up in Denmark and lived in South Africa from 1979 to 99. My teaching experience, which started in the 1970s includes a number of subjects, such as Danish as a second language, English – and meditation.
I enjoy creating an atmosphere where learning is fun, and I strive to make my lessons an inspiring mixture of talking, listening, reading and writing, through different media. I see languages as key to intercultural understanding. Living in South Africa for 20 years has given me a personal experience of the challenges and opportunities related to settling in a new country.
Another aspect of my work consists of translation and proof reading, and I have also worked as a columnist for a local newspaper in Durban, SA.
I have diplomas as a teacher in Danish as a second language, DPU, Danish School of Education and a CELTA Certificate, Cambridge University, teaching English as a second language.
Jette Skadhauge
My name is Jette Skadhauge. I have taught Danish as a second language for more than 20 years to all groups of immigrants and refugees in Denmark. I am also an author of several textbooks.
I love it when my students are motivated to practice, and when authentic conversations take place using Danish, however small the vocabulary or complex language. I plan every lesson to include listening, reading, talking and writing skills and to suit the specific goals my students have.
Having lived abroad myself in Africa and USA, I know the value of being able to communicate in the local language, even on a simple level.
I have worked as an associate professor at University College Capital, Copenhagen and hold an MA in history and a BA in Danish language and literature.
